Council Leadership

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is able to support our future leaders because of the dedication of our volunteers, staff and board of directors.

Executive Team

Paula Bookidis
Chief Executive Officer

GSCTX CEO, Paula Bookidis, began her journey in Girl Scouts on the front lines of camp-outs, volunteer trainings, and cookie sales, as a troop leader! Now, as our G.I.R.L.-in-Chief, Paula brings a unique perspective and a tried and true passion for the Girl Scout mission into the executive suite. Paula stepped into her role at Girl Scouts from her position as a partner at Sense Corp, where she kept things running efficiently and effectively as the Managing Director- Telecom. A dynamic leader and management powerhouse, Paula is also a believer in the power of giving back, demonstrated in her development of Sense Corp’s Community Outreach programs, which has provided over $4M to non-profits.  Paula’s happy place is floating the river, reading a book, sipping on iced tea. In her words, she is “married to the funniest, most supportive guy” and they have three daughters together. A true Girl Scout family, they get outdoors to camp and kayak as often as possible.

Chief Financial Officer

Jerry Spataro is the money man, serving as Chief Financial Officer of GSCTX. Jerry joined Girl Scouts of Central Texas in May 2012. He currently oversees Accounting, Retail Sales, Property/Facilities, IT and Registration. Prior to working with GSCTX, Jerry spent 26 years with Time Warner Cable serving in various Director level positions. Jerry loves his community, and is very active as a member of the Rotary Club of Pflugerville serving as Foundation Chair and sitting on the Advisory Board of the Pflugerville Public Library. He currently resides in (you guessed it!) Pflugerville with his wife, Linda. They have four grown children and four grandchildren. If Jerry is not watching the bottom line, he’s out camping, hiking and communing with nature.

Chief of Programs and Community Engagement

Celia Tellez is driven by her mission to 'make every day a good day for girls around the world'. She is responsible for maximizing the Girl Scout experience through a wide variety of programs offered to all Girl Scouts, plus engaging with organizations across Central Texas to share the mission of the Girl Scouts to girls who may not otherwise have access to a traditional Girl Scout troop setting. She joined GSCTX as Director of Retail Operations and Business Services in April 2013, where she re-merchandised and restructured the operations of the Girl Scout Shops, developed a Mobile Shop program, and overhauled the retail experience at camps. Prior to the Girls Scouts, she has spent 20 plus years in Retail Management for several national retailers, Director of Customer Relations for a start-up Software Company and an Entrepreneur. When she's not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and rambunctious Labrador Retriever, Riley.

Meredith Clarke
Chief Operating Officer

Meredith strongly believes every girl should have access to Girl Scouting, experiencing the leadership, outdoor, and personal growth opportunities that Girl Scouts is so well-positioned to provide. She joined Girl Scouts of Central Texas in February of 2013 as head of the Data Information Department, overseeing the successful transition of all membership and program registrations to an online platform. Working her way through the ranks, she now manages all core aspects of member and volunteer recruitment, conversion, and retention. She also supervises the IT infrastructure and staff support for all 10 GSCTX service locations. Outside of work, Meredith volunteers primarily through The Junior League of Austin. She's been an active member for 12+ years, having served on the Board of Directors. At home, Meredith spends much of her free time engaged in activities her husband and three teenage sons like to do together, including Boy Scouts, training for the Austin marathon, helping out at Community First! Village, and nerding out about current events, math, and computer science topics.

Prior to joining GSCTX, Kursten most recently served as a consultant and as Operations Lead – Global Brands Practice and Managing Director for W2O Group, responsible for business development, account retention and growth, and marketing and communications strategy for Fortune 500 brands, nonprofits and startups. Erika Garza Holland
Chief Resource Development Officer

Inspired by the actions of those who have invested in her own dreams, Erika Garza Holland joined the Girl Scouts of Central Texas team in October 2017, to empower girls with the resources to overcome any obstacle. As our Chief Resource Development Officer, Erika engages corporations, donors, and the entire community to see girls as a valuable and crucial investment. Dynamic and results-driven, Erika has spent her life working as an advocate for others, most recently as the Senior Vice President of the American Heart Association, where she spent sixteen years. During that time, she was awarded the Rome Betts Award of Excellence, and Recipient of Outstanding Campaign Achievement Award thirteen (Yes, one-three!) years in a row. On her off days, you can find her out on the lake with her husband, Robert Holland, or in the stands at a football or baseball game, cheering on her sons, Bobby and Marshall.

Board of Directors

Our volunteer board of directors guides the Girl Scout Movement here in central Texas. They are community leaders from all walks of life who believe in the vision and mission of raising the next generation of leaders. We think they’re pretty cool!
