Girl Scouts of Central Texas connects more than 12,500 youth and nearly 10,000 adult members across 46 counties. Our council makes up the greater areas of Austin, Bryan/College Station, Brownwood, San Angelo, Stephenville, Killeen, and Waco.
We are committed to building an environment where diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) are shared values among all Girl Scouts. Girl Scouts is a community where everyone can contribute uniquely to our mission, while embracing their own leadership experience, and making the world a better place.
In partnership with Girl Scouts of Central Texas staff and volunteers, Girl Scouts of the USA network of support, and local DEI consultant organizations, our council has adopted an operational DEIB strategy and priorities for the organization. Creating a healthy and equitable environment requires diligent and strategic shifting of our organization’s culture, structural practices, and metrics of growth, to truly become an organization that fosters DEIB. Girl Scouts of Central Texas has adopted a three-year DEIB strategy that consists of three phases:
Transform Our Organizational Culture, Values, and Beliefs
We build intercultural competency within the organization, including staff, volunteers, and board members, to create an environment that fosters a welcoming space where everyone can thrive including staff, volunteers, youth, families, and community partners.
Imbed Sustainable Structural Practices
We develop organizational processes and metrics that foster DEIB values and beliefs into actions. We build sustained DEIB processes across council, staff, volunteers, youth, families, and community partners.
Evaluate and Reassess Metrics and Developments
We explore and enhance council functioning expertise in DEIB. Through evaluation and reassessment, Girl Scouts of Central Texas aims for longevity in continuing to craft and specialize the DEIB environment among staff, volunteers, youth, families, and community partners.
