Girl Scouts walking down a street in Paris, France

Travel

Girl Scouts love to travel—from the field trips they take as Brownies to the global adventures they go on as teens. If you love exploring different places and learning about cultures that aren’t your own, then Girl Scouts is the place for you!

How far will your Girl Scout experience go? That’s up to you!

Travel three different ways: Travel with girls from our council, with your troop, or through Girl Scouts of the USA destinations.

Important Resources
Financial Assistance

We believe every girl should have the opportunity to travel, and we’re here to help you figure out the best way to finance your trip.

Did your girl participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program or Fall Product Sales? Awesome! She can use those funds to help pay for the trip!

Girls can also apply for Financial Assistance and/or a Scholarship. Financial Assistance is based off of financial need and comes from a pre-defined budget. In most instances, girls will only receive a small fraction of their request and some applicants may receive no funding. In addition to applying for Financial Assistance, girls are encouraged to apply for one of the five $1,000 international scholarships or one of the five $500 domestic scholarships available this season.

Interested in chaperoning one of our awesome trips?

Chaperones will challenge and empower girls through travel to cultivate their cultural competencies. They will help girls learn a wide range of practical life skills, advance their sense of self, and ultimately build memories and friendships with other Girl Scouts!

Ideal volunteers will have a passion for travel, previous travel experience, trip specific knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with other chaperones and the trip leader. Chaperones are not required to be committee members or trip leader. This volunteer position requires individuals to apply for each trip they would like to chaperone. The term begins once they are selected as a chaperone and concludes after the trip has occurred.  Chaperones will be required to complete trip-specific training once their term begins. Chaperones should be prepared to cover the full or partial per person cost to attend the trip.

Troop-Organized Travel

Girl Scout troops can also travel as a group. Together, with their troop and chaperones, Girl Scouts will create a plan and prepare for an amazing trip.

From local day trips to coast-to-coast treks, learn how to explore the country with Girl Scouts. To see what kind of trip best fits you, check out the Girl Scouts Guide to U.S. Travel.

If you're a troop leader, please review the necessary steps and training through Volunteer Essentials for travel and destination.
