Patch Programs

Girl Scouts can learn what makes their area so special! Girl Scouts of Central Texas (GSCTX) offers additional patches beyond those listed in the program-level handbooks. Every Girl Scout grade level has a patch curriculum that can be accomplished as a troop or independently.

Patches will get her involved in the community by learning new skills, such as thinking like an entrepreneur, experiencing local art, or making a sustainable impact on the environment.

STEM Outdoors with Charms

Experience STEM in the outdoors through different environments, plant life, and wildlife. Earn one or all 12 charms to wear proudly on your vest or sash.

Dark skies are an important natural resource, and Girl Scouts needs your help to protect them! See first-hand the effects of light pollution and discover how you can make changes to reduce light pollution.

Girls Learning Environment and Energy: Food Choices

Girl Scouts will discover ways of communicating about how the food we eat uses energy, connect with troop members to practice these conversations, and take action by trying out their new skills with the adults around them.

Girls Learning Environment and Energy: Home Energy

Save energy at home with Girls Learning Environment and Energy (GLEE)! Girl Scouts will discover the ways that they are engaging in energy saving and connect with their troop as they look at how much energy they’ve saved together. Girls can also take action by engaging in the energy saving behaviors they’re learning about.

Digital Upstander 

Girl Scouts are good citizens and now they can be upstanding digital citizens, too! This patch gives Girl Scouts practice identifying the three roles of a bullying encounter (bully, target, and bystander) and what to do if they are a bystander or a target. When bystanders take action against bullying, they become upstanders!

It is never too early to start thinking about your future.  In this patch program, you will be able to connect the things you enjoy with possible career choices.  You will also examine how careers, college, and finance are tied together.  For this patch, you will explore interests, education as well as career pathways by evaluating what is important to you and matching it with your skillset.

Patch Requirements: To earn this patch, please complete the activities appropriate for each age level. Select the workbook that coordinates with your Girl Scout Level, then complete the steps below.

Water Conservation

Did you know that 71 percent of the earth’s surface is covered in water but only 0.5 percent of the total water is usable! That is not a lot of water to work with, so it is up to us to conserve our precious resource. By completing the Water Conservation Patch requirements, each Girl Scout will take a giant step toward creating a sustainable future for Central Texas.

Stand Against Racism

Girl Scouts stands against racism and pledges to work for a just society for all. As Girl Scouts, we are required to "be a sister of every Girl Scout" and "to make the world a better place". Girls will learn how to focus their efforts to fight the racism that exists in our society.

Big and burly, prickly, and furry, there’s a little bit of everything when it comes to describing the creatures of Texas. As the largest state in the country, Texas has plenty of space of for the most unique and rare animals to share. In this month’s patch you will discover some of the creatures found in Texas and complete activities to help you learn more about their characteristics, lifestyle, and role in nature.
