Travel Chaperone Application
Chaperone requirements:
- Must be/become a registered adult member of Girl Scouts.
- Complete and pass the GSCTX background check.
- Overnight experiences with Girl Scouts/teenagers preferred.
- Qualified caregivers or adults related to youth travelers can be considered as chaperone applicants in round two if we do not receive enough qualified applications in round one. A maximum of one related adult can serve as a chaperone for each trip.
- Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of travel for international trips and at least 18 years of age at the time of travel for domestic trips.
- The last chaperone spot on trips that require more than two primary chaperones will be designated as an apprentice chaperone position.
- Complete all required trainings outlined in the acceptance letter before the trip. Minimum training requirements include: Lets Go 1, Let’s Go Extra Mile, GSCTX Chaperone Self-study, CPR and First Aid, Youth Protection Training, Red Cross Types of Emergencies self-study, and 7 Keys to Handling Difficult Teenagers Self-study. Additional trainings will be required depending on trip activities.
- Once selected, attend the in-person chaperone orientation (date TBD), communicate on a monthly basis via phone with trip lead(s), attend all in-person pre-trip meetings with the youth and volunteer participants, and pay the chaperone trip fee.

- Help us learn more about your travel skills and experience by filling out the application completely.
- Submit completed application by the deadline for the trip you are applying to chaperone. Application deadlines can be found on our travel webpage. Selected applicants will be notified within two months of the deadline date.
