Experience the hidden beauty of the Hill Country on this guided walking tour of Longhorn Cavern, the National Cave of Texas.
Descend 130' below the surface, following the path of an ancient underground riverbed through room after room of amazing geologic wonders. Along the way, experience the Texas-sized stories of the people who were shaped by-and helped shape-this national natural landmark.
Tours last for approximately 90 minutes of slow-paced walking or standing. Parts of the trail can be wet depending on recent rainfall, but the temperature is always a comfortable 68°F. Some ducking may be required - the lowest points are 4'4" and 4'8" - and most tours include a brief lights-out demonstration.
Need-to-Know Info:
- Arrive 10:30-10:40 to check in and attend mandatory safety briefing. Tour starts promptly at 11:00. Missing the safety briefing means you may not be allowed to join the tour at the scheduled time.
- All youth participants will receive a Girl Scouts Love State Parks patch.
- Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes.
- Only plain, unflavored water is allowed inside the cave. No other food or drinks are permitted.
- Total tour distance is 1.1 miles round-trip.
- Guests will be walking/standing for approximately 90 minutes.
- Dress comfortably and wear closed-toe shoes with good traction. Parts of the trail can be wet depending on recent rainfall.
- There are 52 stone steps down to the cavern entrance and back up again.
- Depending on guest height, ducking may be required at several points on the tour. The two lowest points along the tour route are 4' 4" and 4' 8".
- Most tours include a brief lights-out demonstration. Please see your guide for more information.
- Due to the historic nature of Longhorn Cavern State Park, visitor facilities and cavern walkways are not wheelchair accessible.
- Only trained service animals as defined by the ADA are permitted to enter the cavern or park buildings. Pets must be attended at all times; do not leave pets alone in vehicles.

Location: Longhorn Cavern State Park, Burnet

Supervision level: This is NOT A DROP OFF EVENT. Adults are required to REGISTER, PAY, and remain with their youth participants. Girl Scout volunteers bringing their troop must follow all Safety Activity Checkpoints.

Badge/Patch: Fun patch will be given out at the event
