Join us for an exclusive, sneak-peek hike at Post Oak Ridge State
Park before it officially opens to the public! Channel your inner
expert on this interactive, guided hike where you will learn about the
site's rich history, dive into Centennial Park planning, and test your
observation skills with a lively game of State Park Bingo.
Please read details carefully as on-site amenities are very
limited due to ongoing park development.
Key Details & Reminders:
* Registration Limit:
Maximum of 10 vehicles allowed. We highly encourage carpooling - load
up your vehicle with as many Girl Scouts and fellow nature lovers as
you can fit to ensure everyone gets a spot!
* Time &
Duration: Please allow 2 to 2.5 hours for the full experience,
depending on the final group size.
* Park Access &
Departure: Guests must exit the developed area at the conclusion of
the event. If the park is open for day use (which will be determined
closer to the event date based on the development timeline) and you
wish to stay, you must reserve a day pass online prior to arrival and
relocate your vehicle to the designated day-use parking area after the
hike. Find more detailed information about Post Oak Ridge State Park
here: https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/post-oak-ridge.
Terrain & Trail Conditions: Expect minimal elevation changes as we
traverse a mix of old two-track ranch roads, uneven natural surfaces,
and open areas with no sun protection.
Important: Post Oak Ridge is a developing park with
no amenities or potable water. Cell reception is limited.
Please
come fully prepared and bring:
* Plenty of drinking water (no
water is available on-site)
* Sun protection (hats, sunscreen,
sunglasses)
* Hand sanitizer
* Sturdy, closed-toe
shoes
Optional Gear: Feel free to bring binoculars and cameras
to capture the scenery! If you like using nature identification apps
(like iNaturalist or Merlin), please download them and update their
offline databases before arriving at the park due to the lack of cell
service.
