It's summertime fun powered by the sun! Join us at the Bryan Scout House to build, test and race creatively engineered solar powered race boats. No mailing required; your solar kit will be provided at the event.
Get ready to put your creativity and engineering skills to the test as you design, build, and race your very own solar-powered boat! This hands-on session will introduce you to the magic of solar energy while encouraging you to think outside the box in crafting your boat's design. You'll use a solar boat kit provided at the event, that is packed with everything you need to build; a motor, craft foam, solar panels, axles, propellers, wiring, and fun racing stickers. We also encourage bringing your own recycled materials to the event to add a unique twist to your boat's look and functionality. No two boats will be alike-your design is yours to dream up. At the end of the event, families are invited to cheer on the race and celebrate the innovation and hard work of each participant!
Awards will be given for:
Solar Speedster - The fastest boat in each Girl Scout level
Creative Captain - The most innovative design
Eco Innovator - Best use of sustainable or recycled materials
Registration includes lunch, solar kit and fun patch. We can't wait to see your solar-powered masterpieces hit the water this summer!
