Learn how to effectively prevent and respond to water emergencies
with American Red Cross lifeguard training. You will learn how
effective preparation and quick response times are vital to being a
lifeguard while also understanding the crucial elements in helping to
prevent drownings and injuries.
This detailed training includes
both testing of hands-on skills as well as a written test. Upon
successful completion of the Lifeguarding course, you will receive a
Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification, which is valid for two
years and is accepted nationwide.
This is a blended learning
class requiring seven hours of online curriculum to be completed
before the 20 hours of in-person training. The link to online
curriculum will be sent to each participant after registration closes
on April 18, 2024. Online curriculum must be successfully completed
before arrival at camp. Allow at least seven hours to complete the
online module. You must bring the certificate of completion of the
online portion with you to the first day of class (paper copy or on
your phone).
Students must pass a pre-course swimming skills
test prior to taking lifeguarding courses. This includes:
The registration fee includes all instruction, certification fees,
class materials, lodging, and meals: breakfast (Sat/Sun), lunch
(Sat/Sun), dinner (Sat only).

The American Red Cross lifeguard manual is available
online for an additional fee.
If an attendee is unable to
complete the course after March 22, 2024, for any reason, including
not completing the prerequisites or online training, there is a $50
non-refundable American Red Cross course fee (included in the course
fee). This is in addition to the Girl Scouts of Central Texas
cancellation fee.
Lifeguard certification allows adults to take
Girl Scouts to swimming pools. The waterfront module, which will be
offered as a separate course in Spring 2024, is required for lakes,
rivers, streams, paddle sports, snorkeling, and other water
