Girl Scout Product Programs Open Doors to Life-Changing Experiences
For many families, the costs associated with youth programming—from soccer league or dance classes to art or music lessons—can add up quickly. At Girl Scouts of Central Texas, we want every girl who wants to be a Girl Scout to be able to participate and to experience the wide range of activities her troop and our council offer, while gaining the life-changing benefits of Girl Scouting. We support two girl-led money-earning opportunities every year that can significantly reduce a family's out-of-pocket Girl Scouting expenses while teaching invaluable life skills: the Fall Product Program and the beloved Girl Scout Cookie Program.
Funding Adventures and Opportunities
The fall product and cookie programs do more than help Girl Scouts fund their activities—they're pathways to experiences that might otherwise be financially out of reach. Girl Scouts who participate actively help their troop build collective earnings to subsidize costs for all members, ensuring that every girl can participate regardless of her family's financial situation. This collective approach strengthens the troop community while making Girl Scouting accessible to all.
In the Girl Scout Cookie Program, individual Girl Scouts can also earn credits toward council-hosted programs, troop and council-led travel, or even earn a week at summer camp.
Building Essential Life Skills
Beyond the financial benefits, participation in product programs develops crucial entrepreneurial and interpersonal skills. Girls learn to set goals, manage their time, and track their progress—foundational skills for academic and professional success. They practice public speaking when presenting products to potential customers, building confidence that serves them well in school presentations and future job interviews.
The programs also teach financial literacy as girls calculate earnings and make decisions about how to allocate their funds. These real-world math applications make abstract concepts concrete and meaningful.
Perhaps most importantly, girls develop resilience and perseverance. Learning to handle rejection gracefully and bounce back from disappointment are invaluable life lessons that extend far beyond product sales.

How to Get Involved as a Girl Scout Member
All active Girl Scout youth members can participate in our annual product programs.
- Fall Product Program – starts October 1; sign-ups begin at the troop level in September. Talk to your troop leader or your troop’s fall product coordinator to get involved.
