Skate into STEM with us this summer at Pins and Wheels at Playland!
Learn about the science of motion through hands-on STEM activities,
then get your heart pumping as you skate with your Girl Scout friends!
The STEM "land" lesson will cover Newton's Three Laws of
Motion: inertia, force and friction inspecting the roller-skate
itself. Then strap on those skates as you learn some basic skating
tips, and have time to practice skating around the rink. Enjoy fun
games like Hokey Pokey and Limbo while you skate! It is suggested that
those who are skating bring their own safety gear, including helmet
and wrist guards for this activity. Skatemates will be provided for
unlimited use during the skating portion of the program for guests
under 5' tall. At the end of the session, make sure to pick up your
H-E-B Health & Wellness patch sponsored by the H-E-B Tournament of
Champions Charitable Trust.
Adults wishing to skate must register
Location: Pins and Wheels at Playland, Austin
Supervision level: This is NOT A DROP OFF EVENT. Adults are required to remain with their youth participants. Girl Scout volunteers bringing their troop must follow all Safety Activity Checkpoints. Adults wishing to participate must register and pay. Only those registered will be able to participate.
Badge/Patch: HEB Health and Wellness patch will be given out at the event.
Required paperwork: Please complete the following sections of the Council Event Health and Permission Forms, print, and bring with you to the event: Section A
