Discover Scuba diving - a great parent and scout or small troop
event! Your two-hour adventure is held in an indoor heated pool, where
you will start what can easily become a lifelong activity to share
with your family or friends. Your PADI (Professional Association of
Diving Instructors) professionals will guide you through a short
session on scuba diving safety before getting in the pool to scuba
dive, play underwater games, and experience the fun and excitement of
diving.
Included are the Discover Scuba Diving eLearning course,
rental of scuba mask, fins (sizes limited), snorkel, all required
scuba equipment, and participation patch.
Diver medical and
release forms must be completed online prior to class.
Location: Dive World, Austin
Prerequisites: MUST BE AGE 10 or ABOVE and be able to pass a Girl Scout swim test to participate.
Supervision level: While this is a DROP OFF event, adults have to option to register and participate, drop off their Girl Scout participants, or stay to observe the class.. Please plan on checking in your registered Girl Scout with required paperwork submitted at check in.
Special instructions: Swim assessments are required every year for youth and adults participating in any type of Girl Scout aquatic activities including, but not limited to, pool activities, canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, etc. See Safety Activity Checkpoints for details. Swim assessment paperwork should be retained by the troop leader and caregiver. Safety-wise adults should ensure that swimmers remain in aquatic situations appropriate to their swimming ability. Participants at a swimming/aquatic event without a completed swim assessment should be assumed to be a non-swimmer and must always wear a Coast Guard-approved personal flotation device (PFD/lifejacket).
Badge/Patch: Fun patch will be given out at the event.
Required paperwork: Please complete the following sections of the Council Event Health and Permission Forms, print, and bring with you to the event: Sections A and B as well as swim assessment and proof of eLearning
