![]() | As the premiere organization for girl leadership development, Girl Scouts of Central Texas is taking the lead to help you discover your interests, connect with peers locally and globally and take action to change your community. Created by girls and for girls, the statewide Girls’ Respect Conference 2010 is all about you, your life and what you care about. The conference theme is Create Yourself, Define Yourself, BE YOURSELF lets you pick and choose from dozens of options to create a day that’s as unique as you. Dynamic, fun and interactive workshops will focus on important issues like college, careers, friendship, body image, social networking and substance abuse. The conference is at Texas State University in San Marcos on June 12, 2010 and is open to all Texas high school girls. | |

Keynote Speaker Courtney Macavinta
Courtney is founder and CEO of Respect Rx, which coaches teens, adults, advocates and organizations in boosting self-respect and respect for all through programs including the Respect Rally. She is an award-winning journalist, author and speaker who has reached more than a million girls and women through her work, including her blog RespectRx.com and bestselling book, "Respect: A Girl's Guide to Getting Respect and Dealing When Your Line Is Crossed" (Free Spirit Publishing, 2005). As an expert on teens and women, Macavinta has been featured by CNN, National Public Radio, USA Today, Teen Vogue and numerous other media. She has lead special program for young women at venues including the Democratic National Convention and state women's conferences. Courtney is on the board of the national organization Girls For A Change and has partnered with organizations such as the Girls Inc., Girl Scouts of the USA, Girls Rock Camp and the Dove Self-Esteem Fund. She also co-developed the GSUSA's uniquely ME! program for Seniors and Ambassadors.
