Summer Camp

More than a get-away, summer camp is a place where campers explore the outdoors, try new activities, practice independence away from home, learn to work with others, make new friends, and so much more.

Girl Scout Camp combines classic camp activities, including arts and crafts, archery, swimming, and campfires, with unique Girl Scout traditions of camp songs and games.

Whether campers attend camp daily or spend a whole week away from home, they’ll discover, connect, and take action on issues and challenges that are important to them.

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is proud to have both overnight camps accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA) and licensed by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). We maintain these rigorous standards to provide a safe, high-quality experience for our campers. In accordance with state law, any complaints regarding health or safety violations can be submitted using the DSHS complaint form.

Why Camp Matters

At Girl Scouts of Central Texas camps, we give Girl Scouts a chance to discover more about who they are and what they can become. Each child is a unique individual, and we believe that summer camp is beneficial for all.

Our friendly and caring staff will help guide campers through our progressive programs. We encourage Girl Scouts to take healthy risks and experience new things as they build essential life skills, such as:

Interpersonal and Social Skills
Conflict Resolution and Collaborative Teamwork
Critical Thinking and
Problem Solving
Sense of Confidence and Independence

How to Register toggle arrow

Registered Girl Scouts can browse camp sessions at Camp Texlake, Bluebonnet Shores Girl Scout Camp, and Girl Scout Day Camp. During the lottery registration, submit your preferences through the registration lottery form, or register for any remaining sessions during general registration.

Become a Girl Scout!

During registration, add a Girl Scout membership for $45 ($91 after April 1) and get access to unique, hands-on programs year-round.

Registration Lottery

The lottery system is an easy and equitable method of registration for overnight summer camp. With multiple session preferences, the lottery will allow us to place your camper in the best session available based on your requested criteria.

Sibling and buddy requests are welcome: however, both campers must indicate the same buddy to be considered.

For additional information or to register, visit the 2026 Overnight Summer Camp Registration Lottery page.

General Registration

Beginning February 3, 2026, Girl Scouts can register or join a waitlist for any available summer camp sessions.

Registration Dates

January 4: Overnight summer camp registration lottery opens.

January 13: Overnight summer camp registration lottery closes.

January 16: Overnight summer camp registration lottery participants notified of placement.

January 23: Deadline to request changes to your lottery placement. Change requests for campers who were placed in their first-choice camp will not be honored.

February 3: General registration for Camp Texlake, Bluebonnet Shores Girl Scout Camp, and Girl Scout Day Camp sessions open at 10 a.m.

Campers may register for multiple camp sessions, including waitlists, beginning Febrary 3.

April 1: Early Bird pricing closes.

A $100, non-refundable deposit must be paid for every registration, including waitlists.

Only register for camp sessions that your camper will attend. Cancelling registrations late may prevent waitlisted campers from being able to attend summer camp.

Last Chance Registration

General registration will close three weeks prior to the camp session start date.

No new registrations will be allowed after the posted last registration date.

The full balance owed will be due at the time of registration for any registrations made less than four weeks prior to the start of the camp session.

Choosing a Camp Session

To help ensure a great camper experience, register your camper for an age-appropriate session based on the grade your camper will be entering the next fall.

  • B: Brownies – Entering grades 2 and 3
  • J: Juniors – Entering grades 4 and 5
  • C: Cadettes – Entering grades 6, 7, and 8
  • S: Seniors – Entering grades 9 and 10
  • A: Ambassadors – Entering grades 11 and 12

Camp Buddies

At overnight camp, we assign campers cabins according to their program. Therefore, campers do not need to request buddies. However, if they want to ensure they are together at camp, they should register for the same program.

We discourage troops and large groups (three or more) from attending camp together. Camp provides campers the opportunity to make new friends, take safe risks, and test their independence unburdened by the expectations of their day-to-day relationships and affiliations. We find troops who attend sessions together as a large group are less likely to achieve these benefits.

Ensuring Camper Success

To attend Girl Scouts of Central Texas Summer Camp, campers must be able to meet the following essential functions:

  • Move independently from place to place.
  • Independently meet personal needs (bathing, toileting, dressing, diet management, etc.).
  • Effectively interact in group-based program settings.
  • Exhibit enough awareness to capably self-manage chronic illness. A camper must be aware of their own dietary restrictions, medication requirements, and potential restrictions on physical activity, and be able to alert counselors when they need additional assistance.

Caregivers of campers with special needs or unique habits should contact us in advance of their week at camp so they can receive the best placement and appropriate accommodations.

Camp Programming

All camps are designed to provide a traditional Girl Scout Summer Camp experience with a twist.

The twist is the theme of the program you choose at registration. For example, Harriet Potter is not intended to be a fully immersive Harry Potter camp but rather a week of traditional camp with a Harry Potter twist. Our specialty camps, like horse programs or SCUBA diving, also spend a lot of time doing traditional activities. If you have questions about the program for which you intend to register, contact us.

All overnight campers are invited to take part in traditional camp activities like campfire, songs, archery, arts and crafts, and games. Weather permitting, overnight campers can swim each day at camp. Each program listed in this guide includes some basic information about planned activities. However, we promote girl-led opportunities, and we offer a certain amount of freedom for campers as a group to choose additional program options during their stay. To guarantee your camper will engage in certain activities like sailing, kayaking, horses, or high ropes, make sure you choose a program that lists those activities in the description.

1. Online

Log into your MyGS account at any time to view your current balance and to make payments in any amount, up to the full balance.

Program Credits

Current and Carryover Program Credits can be applied to your camper’s registration by submitting a Program Credit Request Form. Program Credits cannot be used to pay camp deposits.

Free Week of Camp

Girl Scouts must register for camp through the registration lottery or general registration and pay the $100 deposit to secure their spot.

Campers who elect a free week of camp will be refunded the deposit paid at registration after they have attended their camp session. Deposits will be refunded by the end of August.

Camp session options include:

  • Free week of standard camp at the 1250+ package level.
  • Free week of specialty camp at the 1500+ package level.

Campership

A Campership is a support program that helps cover some of the costs of attending a camp. It is designed to ensure that all Girl Scout youth, regardless of their financial background, have the opportunity to participate in camp activities.

Apply for a Campership directly when you participate in the registration lottery and become eligible for a reduced deposit. Contact us to apply for a Campership during the general registration process.

Complete the Campership Application after registering during general summer camp registration.

Call 800-733-0011 for assistance regarding a discounted deposit.

Cancellation and Refund Policies toggle arrow

Cancellation Policies

Deposits: All deposits are non-refundable.

Cancellation Request: GSCTX requires four weeks’ written notice to be eligible for a refund, minus the $100 deposit. Cancellations received less than four weeks before the camp start date are not eligible for a refund.

If you mistakenly register for the wrong camp session, do not re-register for another session. Contact us within 24 hours to be eligible for a correction.

All registrations are final. If you would like to change the camp session you are registered for, you will need to request a cancellation of the current camp session and will need to then register for the new session. All applicable cancellation fees will apply.

Waitlisted Registrations: Fees will be waived for campers on a waitlist who choose to move to an open spot in another session. Cancellation fees will also be waived for campers who move off a waitlist and choose to cancel a registration if the request is received within three business days of notification that they moved off the waitlist.

Refunds: Full or partial refunds will not be offered for changes to programming due to weather, staffing, or other unforeseen circumstances at camp, nor if a camper becomes homesick or ill while at camp or is sent home due to behavioral issues.

Cancellations Due to Medical Emergency

Medical Emergency: Your camper can be transferred to a later session, if available, in the event a medical emergency arises prior to camp check-in. A 50 percent refund can be issued if a transfer is unavailable.

Medical Personnel: Transferring or requesting a refund for a medical reason can only be done with a note from medical personnel. This includes refunds for Program Credits.

No Shows: Refunds are not available for campers who do not check in on the Sunday of their camp session without prior written notice.

Cancellation Requests for Free Week of Camp

Cancellation Request: GSCTX requires four weeks’ written notice to be eligible for a free week of camp to be converted to Program Credits.

  • The $100 deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee, and your free week will be converted to Program Credits.
  • A free week of camp cannot be rolled over to the following year.
  • If the cancellation request is received less than four weeks prior to the camp start date, not for any of the reasons below, Girl Scouts will forfeit their free week of camp, and it will not be converted to Program Credits.

Cancellation Due to Illness: In the event that your camper cannot be moved to another week of camp, and a doctor’s note is provided, GSCTX will retain the $100 deposit as a cancellation fee, and will convert the free week of camp to Program Credits as follows:

  • Campers who earned a free week of standard camp at the 1250+ package level will receive 212 Program Credits.
  • Campers who earned a free week of specialty camp at the 1500+ package level will receive 275 Program Credits.
