Outreach Programs

Many girls are not able to participate in traditional, volunteer-led troops due to various geographic, socioeconomic and emotional challenges. These girls are provided with a Girl Scout curriculum that addresses their individual needs and provides them the tools and skills necessary to succeed in life.

Juvenile Justice Initiative: Troop meetings provide crime prevention programming for girls who are at high risk of arrest as adults, including girls whose mothers are incarcerated, and girls who are on probation. Services include prevention education, therapy and case management.

Shelter Initiative: Programs are provided at Austin area shelter sites with a curriculum that emphasizes safety and respect. The goal of the program is to help girls feel connected to a troop during a transient and uncomfortable time in their lives, and to celebrate their resilience.

School Programming: Girl Scouting programs bring a unique curriculum into the school for girls in underserved areas as well as teen parents. The programs encourage girls to think about their goals and prepare themselves for the future. Activities are empowering, girl focused and exploratory.

Teen Resources: Check out other agencies that provide help with a variety of teen topics.
