Learn the basics of outdoor survival along with some campcraft favorites! Build fires without matches and construct temporary shelters in the woods. Once you've made your basecamp, it's time to eat...bugs! Discover how edible entomology is a sustainable food source. Throughout the day, we'll also introduce some influential women in STEM along the way.
Bring a lunch and a refillable water bottle.

Location: McKinney Roughs Nature Park, Cedar Creek

Special Instructions: This is a DROP OFF event, however, we require a certain number of safety-wise adults in order for the event to happen. Please plan to drop off your registered Girl Scout with drop off forms submitted at check in.  Please fill out the Drop-Off & Release Form and bring it with you. This form can be found in the My Events section of your MyGS account by clicking on the event and scrolling to the Additional Documentation section. If you are able to volunteer, please register into one of the adult spots. If enough adults are not registered by the registration closed date, this event may need to be cancelled. GSCTX requires any adult participating with a troop or attending an event as a Girl Scout adult volunteer to have a current year Girl Scout membership, a current/eligible criminal background check (CBC), and have completed GSCTX youth protection training.

Badge/Patch: Fun patch will be given out at the event.
