Turbo Trefoils races are back with an exciting new solar project!
Put your design and engineering skills to the test! Find unique ways to utilize your design and creative skills to create the body of your solar boat. After you have designed, built, and tested your boat, meet fellow Girl Scouts for a race to see how your boat performs! Registration costs include the solar car kit, registration to attend the live race this summer, and a fun patch. The kit includes a motor, craft foam, solar panels, axles, propellers, wiring, and stickers! There will be awards for fastest time in Girl Scout level, most creative boat, and best use of sustainable or recycled materials.
This is NOT a Drop-Off event. Chaperones will need to stay with Girl Scouts at all times. Adults will need to register for the event.
Solar car kits will be shipped on a bi-weekly basis beginning May 5, 2023. Other shipping dates will include:
May 19
June 2
June 16
June 30
July 7
July 14
More information including rules of the race will be included with your solar building kit. We can't wait to see your boats this summer!
Special thanks to our event sponsor(s): JE Dunn, for all they do to empower future leaders in STEM.

Location: Kodosky Service Center, Austin

Special Instructions: This is NOT A DROP OFF EVENT. Adults are required to remain with their Girl Scouts. As required by Volunteer Essentials and Safety Activity Checkpoints, adults attending this event are responsible for their troop or individual Girl Scouts behavior. During non drop off Girl Scout events, adults attending the event are responsible for the safety and well-being of the youth that are in their care during the event. Do not leave your Girl Scouts in the care of other adults at the event that are not part of your troop or directly related to the child.

All adults participating with a troop or registered to volunteer at the event are required to have a current/eligible background check (CBC) and to be a registered Girl Scout adult volunteer. The easiest way to obtain a CBC is to add the "troop friends and family" role to your membership. It is highly recommended but not required that caregivers attending with their Girl Scout(s) be a registered GSCTX member and have a CBC on file.

Badge/Patch: Fun patch will be given at the event.
