Travel

How far will her Girl Scout experience go? That’s up to her!

Explore our three ways to travel: with girls from across the counciltroop-organized, or through Girl Scouts of the USA destinations.

Girl-led and girl-cherished! Girl Scouts within Central Texas will adventure together on national and global trips. Adult trip leaders will be there to help your girl along the way, but the journey is all hers — from the sights she'll see to the food she'll eat!

Important Resources
Financial Assistance

We believe every girl should have the opportunity to travel, and we’re here to help you figure out the best way to finance your trip.

Did your girl participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program or Fall Product Sales? Awesome! She can use those funds to help pay for the trip!

Girls can also apply for Financial Assistance and/or a Scholarship. Financial Assistance is based off of financial need and comes from a pre-defined budget. In most instances, girls will only receive a small fraction of their request and some applicants may receive no funding. In addition to applying for Financial Assistance, girls are encouraged to apply for one of the five $1,000 international scholarships or one of the five $500 domestic scholarships available this season.

Quick Facts

Dates and costs are subject to change based on interest and transportation costs.
Caregivers should note these are not "mom-and-me" events. Girl Scout travel encourgages girls to explore their independence in a safe environment. If you would like to become a chaparone, please see the information below.
All trip costs must be paid directly to Girl Scouts of Central Texas.
Girls are eligible to use GS Program Credits, formerly known as Girl Scout Cookie Dough, for council trips.

Cancellation Policy

Refund amounts for council trips and destinations trips vary based upon the cancellation and departure dates. Deposits are not refundable.

A cancellation fee will be charged; this amount will increase as the departure date approaches. Any portion of a Girl Scout's trip fee that has been spent will not be refunded. For complete details, please review the Council Trip and Destination Cancellation Policy (PDF).

Become a Chaperone

Interested in chaperoning one of our awesome trips?

Chaperones will challenge and empower girls through travel to cultivate their cultural competencies. They will help girls learn a wide range of practical life skills, advance their sense of self, and ultimately build memories and friendships with other Girl Scouts!

Ideal volunteers will have a passion for travel, previous travel experience, trip specific knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with other chaperones and the trip leader. Chaperones are not required to be committee members or trip leader. This volunteer position requires individuals to apply for each trip they would like to chaperone. The term begins once they are selected as a chaperone and concludes after the trip has occurred.  Chaperones will be required to complete trip-specific training once their term begins. Chaperones should be prepared to cover the full or partial per person cost to attend the trip.

Now accepting applications for the following trips:

  • Japan, July 2022 — Application deadline is August 31, 2021. Chaperone fee is $1,000.

Troop-Organized Travel

Girl Scout troops can also travel as a group. Together, with her troop and chaperones, she'll create a plan and prepare for an amazing trip.

From local day trips to coast-to-coast treks, your girl will learn how to explore the country with Girl Scouts. To see what kind of trip best fits your girl, check out the Girl Scouts Guide to U.S. Travel.

If you're a Troop Leader, please review the necessary steps and training through Volunteer Essentials for travel and destination.
