Series offers activities for the same group of participating girls, scheduled over six to eight weeks, relating to a specific theme or purpose. These special interest groups allow girls to pick an activity interesting to them and connect with girls similar to their age who share the same interest. We offer a variety of groups for girls to get involved in so find one near you!

Groups are typically open to girls grades 6-12 unless noted otherwise and are created by girls, for girls.

Media Team

Write for the newspaper, be on television and create films with the GSCTX Media Team! Go beyond traditional media as you help the council navigate social media and networking sites. The Media Team is open to all Girl Scouts and Girl Scout volunteers who are excited to spread the word about Girl Scouting. Participants will explore media related career-fields, improve public speaking skills, discover video creation and more. To join, email us.

Rock Climbing Interest Group

Girls' participation in outdoor recreation is a powerful tool for combating self-doubt and building courage and confidence in its place. By working with REI girls in grades 6-12, girls can enjoy monthly rock climbing instruction sessions to learn the basics of climbing techniques, belaying methods, and proper safety procedures. After having completed one of these courses, girls will have an opportunity to participate in four extended weekend trips. To join, email us.

Harp Ensemble

This girl-lead special interest group is looking to recruit fellow girls who share a love of music and can play the harp! Girls meet regularly to pick music, arrange it to suit their talents and strengths and practice in a fun environment. There are plans to perform publicly in the near future. You're invited to join the group today so email us for more information.
