All service team members – new, experienced, and potential team members as well as any volunteer that wants to learn more and stay abreast on all things Girl Scouting are invited to attend the Girl Scouts of Central Texas Service Team Conference.

Lodging options
- Kodosky Program Center will be available for overnight stay on Friday, July 13. To reserve a spot, contact Programs@gsctx.org. Please note that the facility does not have showers.

REGISTRATION & EVENT INFO
- Conference registration closes July 9, 2012.
- Registration cancellations accepted only through July 6, 2012.
- After July , only name substitutions will be accepted - no refunds offered after this point.
- Babysitting is NOT provided at conference. Please make prior arrangements for childcare.
Workshops - 2012 GRID
Once you register, you will be able to select your workshop preferences through an online form. This form will be sent to the email you provided when registering through e-council. If you do not receive an email, notify the Programs Department.
Please refer to the 2012 Grid and Descriptions for scheduling information. Select workshops based upon the Service Team position(s) you hold and then fill in the remainder of your schedule with workshops that interest you.
*Note: There are multiple opportunities to take Journeys and Recruitment workshops. Please allow a lunch break during workshop sessions two, three or four. In order to increase the chances of getting placed in a prefered workshop, please make a first and second choice for each session. Do not choose the same class for your first and second choice. All workshops have limited space.
- Service Unit Treasurer - Get what it takes to balance the books and keep accurate records for your Service Unit's treasury. Find out how to be a successful SU treasurer and learn ways to finance your service unit through planned events.
- SU Training Coordinator- Learn how to help all the volunteers in your service unit get the training they need and the support that they deserve.
- Opening Doors to other Cultures (Recruiting in all communities) - In this workshop you will learn the best ways to reach out to communities that you haven't been able to connect with.
- Fall Product Service Unit Manager Training – This training is for Service Unit Fall Product Managers only. The Service Unit Fall Product Manager will train Troop Fall Product Coordinators. Check with your Service Unit for the scheduled date.
- GSCTX Board Meeting - The meeting is for currently elected members of the GSCTX Board of Directors. (Continues through workshop #2)
- Take Action Projects - What is the difference between a Take Action Project and a Service Project? How do we teach girls the difference? Come explore the components of Take Action and how it fits into everything we do with girls.
- Journeys 101 - This workshop will give you a clear overview of how to navigate Journeys in general. We'll cover the basic elements of a Journey, the research behind them, how best to implement Journeys and more. Everyone that takes this course will leave with the tools to present this information as a 20 minute training at a Service Unit Meeting!
- Journeys for Events & Series - This workshop goes beyond Journeys 101 and includes helpful resources and ideas for everything from troop meetings to girl recruitment events.
- Girl Scout Silver Award Consultant Training - This workshop will certify a member of your SU or area to oversee the GS Silver Award process. It covers everything from paperwork to projects. (continues through workshop #2)
- Religious Recognitions - Understand how Girl Scouting emphasizes spiritual growth through religious recognitions. Find out the difference between PRAY and the GSUSA award "My Promise My Faith".
- Scrap-booking - Tips on how to preserve your Service Unit's activities. Bring photos to create your own scrapbook page.
- Songs 101 - Learn the classic Girl Scout songs and how to teach them to the girls, leaders, or your entire service unit.
- Supplements to Journeys - Need help navigating through Journeys? Want some additional guides, ideas and activities? In this workshop, we'll share new GSUSA Journey guides, Techbridge for Journeys curriculum and more!
- SU Event Director Training – Join a true event planning expert, Kate Lipinski, as she walks you through the basics of becoming a pro at delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through fun and diverse events.
Workshop #2 – 12:15 to 1:15p.m.
- Service Unit Registrar Training - Get a handle on this very important position for your Service Unit and find out how to make everything flow smoothly during the fall rush.
- Conflict Resolution for Adult Volunteers - Preventing conflict is not always easy, but this workshop will enable you to promote a conflict-free environment when dealing with problems that may arise.
- Girl Recruitment Ideas (Metro) - SUDS & Troop Organizers – both experienced and new - should attend this informational meeting. The recruitment needs for a service unit can be different depending on your location and your membership so this class has been broken down to address the specific needs of metropolitan communities.

- Money Earning for Take Action Projects - Are your Girl Scouts working on a Girls Go Green Take Action Project? How about a Silver or Gold Award? Money earning is often encompassed into Take Action Projects as the projects require funds. Join us for some clarity into basic money earning, plus some insight into unique ideas for accumulating the resources you need for your projects.

We'll cover the basic elements of a Journey, the research behind them, how best to implement Journeys and more. - Calling all NEW SUDS! - New SUDs will acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitude for this ever-so-important position. (continues into Workshop #4 in Calling ALL SUDs)

- Girl Scout House Managers - Required workshop for Girl Scout house managers to learn procedures for house maintenance, repairs, and usage.

- It's your Facebook, Use it!! – Make Facebook your Friend! Learn how to optimize all the features of Facebook to benefit your troops, your Service Unit and yourself. (Tired of seeing everyone's game requests? Unsure how to set your privacy settings? Want to learn how to use it as an effective communication tool? This is where you need to be!)
- SWAPS 101 - Have fun while making several SWAPS to take back to your troop or Service Unit and get ideas for more.
Workshop #4 –2:45 to 3:45p.m.
- Calling ALL SUDS!!! - All SUDS – both experienced and new - should attend this informational meeting. Find out changes to policies, share best practices, ask questions and learn something new!
- Juliette/Zip Troop Coordinator – With the focus on ALL the Pathways and the fact that girls don't have to be in a troop to have a quality Girl Scout Leadership Experience, now more than ever the Juliette Coordinator plays a big role in the Service Unit Learn how to keep the girls that are not in the Troop Pathway plugged in and active in your SU!
- Troop/School Organizer - This volunteer supports the service unit and is crucial in placing girls in troops and forming new troops so that every girl can be a Girl Scout. Learn more about coordinating Recruitment efforts and following up with girls that are interested.
- Your Service Unit Cookie Program – Get a sneak peek at the changes to the 2013 Cookie Program, then learn how your Service Unit can participate in Cookies Rock or host your own!
- Delegate Meeting - This meeting is for all elected delegate/alternates to discuss new council issues/policies. (continues through workshop #5)
- Program Aide Facilitator Training – Program Aide training gives girls the knowledge and experience they need to facilitate true Girl Scout experiences. This workshop will prove to be a benefit even for adults – walking you through the ins and outs of working with girls.
- Journeys 101 - This workshop will give you a clear overview of how to navigate Journey's in general. We'll cover the basic elements of a Journey, the research behind them, how best to implement Journeys and more. Everyone that takes this course will leave with the tools to present this information as a 20 minute training at a Service Unit Meeting! (repeat of an earlier workshop)

Workshop #5 – 4:00 to 5:00p.m.
- Calling all Facilitators! - Are you currently a Facilitator or interested in becoming one? Attend this round table workshop to get updates, meet other trainers and find out what is new and what is on the horizon.
- Troop Consultant - New troop leaders need someone to learn from, someone to lean on. Learn the skills that will make them feel comfortable in their role as a leader.
- Volunteer Recruitment – You need Volunteers... we want to give you some ideas for recruiting them. Join this workshop to learn what research has shown to be effective ways to recruit volunteers.
