High Adventure Team (HAT)

Reach new heightsOpen to Girl Scout Cadettes, Seniors and Ambassadors, HAT activities are designed for both beginner and experienced participants interested in outdoor challenges. All activities are scheduled, planned and facilitated by volunteer advisors and Safety-Wise adults.

Special Instructions: Register for HAT events using the Council Event Registration Form. All participants, individuals and groups, must register with Safety-Wise adults. Confirmation packets will be sent prior to the planning meetings. Troops should send at least one representative to the meeting to review high-risk activities and other important information. Troops may contact the advisor in charge with questions and concerns if unable to attend. Food is not included in HAT event fees.

Planning Meetings: Details regarding when and where planning meetings will be held will be sent in confirmation packets. You are automatically registered for the planning meeting if you receive a confirmation for the event.

HAT Patches: After attending three HAT events, girls are eligible for HAT patches, which can be ordered by contacting a Program Specialist or calling (512) 453-7391 or (800) 733-0011.

Seven Leave No Trace Principles: HAT participants, like all Girl Scouts, know how important it is to leave our world better than we found it, even just on one hiking trip. Participants learn about Leave No Trace, an outdoor ethics campaign with seven guiding principles.

  • Know Before You Go
  • Choose the Right Path
  • Trash Your Trash
  • Leave What You Find
  • Be Careful with Fire
  • Respect Wildlife
  • Be Kind to Other Visitors
