Housing Authority of the City of Austin

The Program

The Housing Authority of the City of Austin (HACA) extends the benefits of Girl Scouting to girls in order to help them reach their full potential. The program focuses on Leadership, Anti-Bullying skills, and Girl Scout Ways in a caring and a supportive environment. Girls have the opportunity to participate in the annual Cookie Program, council wide program events, annual campouts, and special programming based upon their age level.

How the Program Works

HACA serves girls from ages 5-14, and all troop meets once a week for one hour all year around. GSCTX currently provide Girl Scouting at the following seven HACA sites: Booker T. Washington, Georgian Manor, Rio Lado, Santa Rita, Shadow Bend, North Gate and Rosewood.

The Objectives of the Program

  • To provide activities that encourage respect for one another and themselves
  • To present activities that promote creative thinking
  • To develop healthy peer relationships.
